With the delivery and installation of two new columns over 50 metres high, Shell Rheinland has reached another important milestone on the construction site of the Base Oil Distillation Unit (BODU) at the Rheinland Energy and Chemicals Park.
“A logistical and organisational feat like this only works if many people work hand in hand, from our internal operations and partner companies to emergency management and the site fire brigade. I am very proud that everyone pulled together to achieve our common goal. We've completed an important step in the plant's completion without complications and on schedule - and now we're moving on to the next work packages so that the base oil plant can start up as planned. ”

The new Base Oil Distillation Unit (BODU) will enable the production of high-quality base oils in the future and is an important milestone in the transformation of Shell Rheinland into a production site for low-CO2 products. Kraftanlagen Energies & Services, together with its subsidiary ECM, has been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the new plant.
